Saffron is the stigma of the saffron crocus (Crocus sativus). Pickers are looking for three tiny fragile stigmas inside each flower. They pluck them with tweezers. Very gently, of course.

Love this - a nice change from "ordinary" bread. Soft, tasty and toasts well.
A bit too strong tasting for me.
Pastry could be better; not crisp and had a bitter taste. Filling too dry - needs more jelly.
